New Town manager Paul Hurst will formally take charge at Portman Road today.

Town have confirmed that manager Paul Hurst has been sacked, owner Marcus Evans believing that it “is in the best interests of the club” to appoint a new boss with ex-Norwich manager Paul Lambert set to be his successor. Assistant manager Chris Doig, fitness coach Nathan Winder and physio Chris Skitt have also left the Blues, while academy head of coaching and development Bryan Klug will take caretaker charge for Saturday’s game at Millwall.

Paul Lambert will be confirmed as Town’s new manager within the 48 hours, TWTD understands.

Nathan Winder has joined the Blues as the club’s new fitness coach, having recently left Leeds, who he moved to from Barnsley earlier in the year.

New manager Paul Hurst is targeting two wingers as part of his plans to put his own stamp on the side he has inherited from predecessor Mick McCarthy.

Former boss Paul Hurst has talked at length about his time with the Blues for the first time and says he doesn’t think the squad at Town “as a whole bought into what we were trying to do”, adding that he found it difficult to have a relationship with owner Marcus Evans.
