Six months on, farmers protest still going strong

Farmers have been protesting against the three farm laws for over six months now. The protests remain strong and united, but since the January 26 R-Day violence, a resentment between a section of leftists and Sikhs was noticed, which if not controlled, could create trouble in the long run.  During the R-Day violence protest, it was witnessed that people with left ideology, and Sikhs were seen sharing space, but after the protests, Kisan Unions labelled Deep Sidhu and Lakha Sidhana as traitors. Apart from this, they also failed to come out in support of Navreet Singh, who died during R-Day violence, and other Punjabis who were arrested by the Delhi police.

Image Source: IANS News New Delhi, Feb 27 : The Delhi Police on Friday informed the high court that the death of a farmer whose tractor overturned during the tractor rally on Republic Day was due to shock and hemorrhage as a result of head injury, and not due to any gunshot injury. The police stated this in the status report filed in a petition moved by deceased Navreet Singh s grandfather seeking court-monitored SIT probe into the death. He asserted that Navreet Singh was allegedly shot by the policemen, due to which he lost control of the tractor.

Farmer died during R-Day violence due to shock, haemorrhage: Delhi, UP Police to HC ANI | Updated: Feb 26, 2021 23:16 IST New Delhi [India], February 26 (ANI): The Delhi and Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday told the Delhi High Court that the cause of the death of Navreet Singh, a farmer who died on January 26 in the national capital, is shock and haemorrhage as a result of antemortem head injury and not due to any gunshot injury. The Delhi Police and Uttar Pradesh Police s response came as a reply filed in an ongoing petition moved by the father of the deceased seeking a court-monitored probe into the death of a farmer Navreet Singh. He has raised several questions on the death and sought a post mortem video and X-ray report of the deceased.
