The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Monday said nearly 4,000 persons have been affected by the recent volcanic activity of Taal.

Authorities began evacuating residents in barangays located near Taal Volcano in Batangas on Saturday after Alert Level 3 was raised following the volcano's phreatomagmatic burst.

The confirmed fatalities due to Typhoon Odette has climbed from 59 on Tuesday to 63 on Wednesday, according to the latest report by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
