The expansion of the Eastern Bypass into a dual carriageway is 86 percent complete, with the Chinese contractor expected to finish the job in January 2023.

The expressway had been closed on Saturday to pave way for the official commissioning by the government.

The Nairobi Expressway is complete and is now subject to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s availability for commissioning, Parliament has been told.

The State has borrowed Sh2 billion to undertake the dualling of Nairobi’s busy Eastern Bypass, which stretches from Mombasa Road to the Thika Superhighway.
