The hacker behind the recent theft of almost $600 million in cryptocurrency from the decentralized finance platform Poly Network started that they hacked the platform "for fun." The hacker has returned a considerable portion of the stolen crypto and the remaining balance of stolen Ethereum is being transferred back to Poly Network according to their Twitter account.

The purported hacker said returning the money "was always the plan".

Poly Network, the cryptocurrency interoperability protocol, says that it has been hacked and more than $600 million in assorted cryptocurrency was stolen.

The hack may be the largest to date in DeFi's history.

The unknown Poly Network hacker has begun returning funds stolen from yesterday’s record-breaking exploit.

“We will take legal actions and we urge the hackers to return the assets,” said DeFi platform Poly Network.
