The University of Louisiana Monroe family is mourning the loss of longtime supporter and alumnus Charles Freeman Stamper. Stamper passed away on October 22, 2023. He received his Bachelor’s from ULM (then Northeast Louisiana State College) in 1968. After graduating from his beloved university, Freeman enlisted in the US Army where he obtained the rank of E5 Specialist and was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal.

Director of the ULM School of Visual and Performing Arts Dr. Nicholas Bratcher and Assistant Professor of Music Dr. Carlton Kilpatrick have been selected to present at the Louisiana Music Educators Association (LMEA) Conference from November 17-20, 2023, in Baton Rouge.

The University of Louisiana Monroe School of Visual and Performing Arts is proud to present the ULM Wind Ensemble in concert on Tuesday, October 3, in Brown Auditorium at 7:30 pm. The ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Nicholas Bratcher, will present their first concert of the season called "Fables and Folklore." The concert will feature musical depictions of famous works of literature and folklore. The concert will be narrated by Dr. Will Rogers.

The University of Louisiana Monroe’s School of Visual and Performing Arts is proud to present Arts on the Bayou, an immersive arts experience for 9th-12th grade students, which will be held at ULM on September 13, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. The event, formally known as VAPA Day, will give high school students a unique glimpse into what its like to be a ULM music or art student through hands-on activities, discussion with professors, and meeting current VAPA students.

The University of Louisiana Monroe invites the public to join President Ron Berry and Dr. Christine Berry for the first ever Bon Aire Piano Bar, Friday June 9 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. The event will take place at Bon Aire, the home of the ULM President and First Lady, at 4508 Bon Aire Dr. in Monroe. All profits from the evening will benefit the ULM School of Visual and Performing Arts.

The University of Louisiana Monroe is proud to announce the hiring of Nicholas Bratcher, DME as the new Director of the School of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA).
