Subscriber only A COURT has heard an elderly Ipswich man was lucky to escape unharmed after a truck slammed into his vehicle as he attempted a U-turn on the Cunningham Highway. The 86-year-old driver had become confused after heading the wrong way down the highway near the Redbank Plains Rd on ramp on January 4. A 45-tonne truck bore down on the man s vehicle, colliding with the rear. While it destroyed the vehicle, the driver was not injured. Paul Gilbert Rollo Jones, a retiree from Flinders View, went before Ipswich Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle on the Cunningham Highway at Blackstone.

A prominent Lockyer Valley carpenter told police that birds had âstruck his windscreenâ when he was intercepted by officers in Lowood, however that turned out not to be true.
Peter John Paige pleaded guilty to seven charges in the Gatton Magistrates Court on Monday, February, 8.
Six of the charges were related to vehicle offences including driving uninsured, unregistered and with registration plates from another vehicle - while the remaining charge was for providing false or misleading statements to police.
In court, police prosecutor senior sergeant Al Windsor said Paige, who resides in Ma Ma Creek, was involved in a crash with a motorcycle on November 28, 2020.

Subscriber only A WELL-KNOWN Lockyer Valley carpenter took a huge deposit from a client but never completed the job, landing him in court and being ordered to pay a hefty fine. Evan Neil Wesche was ordered to pay more than $20,000 in compensation to his victim and fined $5000 in the Gatton Magistrates Court on Monday, after the matter was referred to the Office of Fair Trading. The court heard Wesche operated a cabin construction business on Woodlands Road in Gatton and traded under the name Creative Cabins. In April 2019, a Lockyer Valley family engaged with Wesche, a 65-year-old cabinet maker, to construct a two-bedroom removable cabin.
