One Love Single Fin Surf Contest I know it is quite a long time away but I am excited about it so please let me tell you about the spring single fin surf contest that is on the other side of this coming winter.
East London’s hopes of securing blue flag status for some of its beaches may be a distant dream if events over the Easter weekend are anything to go by.
I am not able to support young protesters who throw soup at world-famous art. Art is important. It contributes to creating a better humanity. Surfing is something like that too.
I had the express pleasure of watching the Border Buffalo City grom team get handed their kit for the Sea Harvest Grommet Games (for boys and girls U10-U16) in Gqeberha which was held last weekend - 25 & 26 March. Groms, by the way, is the name given to entry level, beginner surfers. Even at age 60 plus, cool team kit is a thrill but at age 8 to 10, heaven has just opened up and been put on sale and the kit is for free.
Do not dive head first into the tidal pool at Cape Morgan. It was once part of a titanium mine operated by Trev Miller, started in 1958. The black sand you see in the area is testimony to the mineral riches in the sand. The ex-mine ruins are testimony too, that the titanium is not easily processed to good economic return, and who would want to see a mine in the middle of a tourist area? Whomsoever built the pool at the time did a jolly good job.
