With Tuesday’s election looming, Bowling Green Council on Monday voted to postpone indefinitely two resolutions concerning the controversial Issue 1.

On June 30, Bowling Green State University student Damon Sherry was formally placed on the ballot by a unanimous vote of the Ward 1 Bowling Green Democratic Party’s Central Committee members.

Damon Sherry, who identifies as non-binary, said Bowling Green's Democratic Party put them on the ballot in place of current council member for Ward 1, Nick Rubando.

The controversial Ohio Issue 1 provoked dueling resolutions which were introduced at Thursday’s Bowling Green Council meeting.
