A Catholic priest in Nigeria was burned to death Sunday in a horrific attack underscoring the dire and deadly circumstances Christians face in some parts of the African country.

Tragedy struck at the weekend in Lambata Community, Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State following the assasination of the village Head, Alhaji

  Bandits in the early hours of Sunday attacked St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church located along Daza Road, Kafin-Koro in the Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State and burnt the priest, Very Rev. Fr. Isaac Achi to ashes.   A source in the area told SaharaReporters that Fr. Achi's assistant identified as Father Collins also sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.   

Until his death, Achi was attached to St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church, Kafin-Koro, Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger.

Niger State Police Command has deployed reinforcements to track down suspected killers of Catholic Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Issac Achi of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Paikoro LGA of the state on Sunday.
