The Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights annual tree lighting celebration outside the Nevada State Capitol Building in Carson City is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 1. Activities are planned throughout downtown from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and listed below.

Beginning Oct. 7, 2018 until Dec. 1, 2018, we at the Carson Nugget will be starting our $30K Progressive Jackpot Giveaway! Drawings will be held every day at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. with a special bonus drawing at 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The progressive amount goes up every drawing that it is not won!

Please join us this weekend June 14-15 for a weekend of fun at the Carson Nugget located at 507 N Carson St in Carson City. We have comedian Travis Tate headlining the Carson Comedy Club Friday & Saturday. The doors open up at 7:15 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.

How adventurous are you? Ascent Runs continues their Be Bold, Run in the Cold Winter Trail Series with a five or ten kilometer run starting at Centennial Park. If you’d like a less strenuous outdoor activity, then the Downtown Business Association’s monthly Wine Walk is a perfect choice.

It’s wine walk weekend, and depending on what kinds of days off you get, potentially the beginning of a four-day weekend. We will be celebrating the birthday of the United States of America on Tuesday, but there are some fun events to enjoy now. Catch the Parade of Trains at the Nevada State Railroad Museum or the RSVP Carnival at Mills Park.

The kids can get a jump start on the Halloween festivities today at the Carson Tahoe Medical Center. The annual Spooktacular Stroll is a fun time not to be missed. Take a ride on the Ferris Wheel or win your sweetheart a prize at the RSVP Carnival that opens today at Mills Park. It’s Family Night, so all rides are only one dollar.

This is the first Labor Day I didn’t force myself to work. After the Temple Burn at Burning Man, I decided I needed to dedicate a little time today to a different kind of work. That work was emotional in nature. See, the Temple Burn on the Playa is a somber moment. It’s a time of reflection, letting go, and grief.
