Well, Carson City, here we are at the end of another work week. And if you love to play in the snow on weekends, then theres good news on its way. A chance for more white stuff is in the forecast for our area starting later Friday afternoon through Sunday.

Heading into the weekend, theres a bevy of events around the Carson City region that brings a cool breeze to the first three days of summer. The 16th Motor Officer Challenge kicks off Friday at 7 a.m. at Mills Park. Lace up the shoes for a Friday morning walk at East Silver Saddle Ranch hosted by Muscle Powered.

Be this year’s MVD — Most Valuable Driver — by being the designated driver on Super Bowl Sunday. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office in cooperation with Joining Forces and the Office of Traffic Safety have provided a limited number of water and cola Koozies to be given to those who choose to be designated drivers during the game.

I was so touched by the response to the Advanced Gratitude Journaling class I taught last Friday. Whenever I can make a difference in someone’s life, I get a deep sense of satisfaction. It’s time for the Nevada Day Weekend celebration! This year the celebration starts with a party on Friday, Oct. 27 with FREE live entertainment in downtown Carson City across from the Carson Nugget. Hours for the event are from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will support local charities like Advocates to End Domestic Violence and F.I.S.H.

Christy Corporation, Ltd. will host an informal neighborhood meeting to present a proposed development plan for Andersen Ranch Estates, which includes the 48.2 acres located west of Mountain Street, east of Ormsby Boulevard in west Carson City.

The Hop and Mae Adam’s Foundation will temporarily donate several of its downtown Carson City parking lots to help charities raise money over the Nevada Day weekend. The charities will be collecting $5 donations for vehicle parking on Nevada Day in parking lots owned and maintained by the Foundation.

Memorial Day weekend is often thought of as the kick-off to summer, but in Northern Nevada we know that the weather is a fickle creature. The weather should be dryer and warmer as the weekend progresses but have back-up plans for your bar-be-que, just in case.
