Lorraine Knight passed away Oct. 16 leaving behind a 33-year legacy of service working for the Catholic Church in Philadelphia.

More than 700 people – including at least 100 children – attended the third annual “Boot-Up Philly” event Nov. 4 in the parking lot of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center.

Local chapters of Catholic Relief Services in the Philadelphia Archdiocese donated an unprecedented $426K to support the agency’s global and local outreach to people in need.

The Oct. 4 event highlighted the Church’s charitable works of mercy and their immense impact throughout the region.

For most of us the presence of hunger is not as up close and personal, but hunger is clearly all around each of us.

The evening sought to bring awareness to the broader community of the Catholic Human Services charitable works and their immense impact throughout the five-county region.

Even in the final month of summer, the agency is looking for new meal distribution sites and others resources to help feed kids in need.

Outside of work, Sean-Tamba Matthew freely offers his time as a volunteer working alongside faith-based non-profits that strengthen communities and improve the lives of our neighbors in need.

As the school year comes to an end, the city of Philadelphia is offering free meals to keep kids healthy and fed all summer long.

Saint Martin de Porres Parish, in partnership with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., will host a Community Health Fair June 10 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
