The space agency will launch the second-generation navigation satellite NVS-01 around 10.42 am.

The Bengaluru-headquartered agency is all geared up to launch the second-generation navigation satellite series, a significant launch which would ensure the continuity of NavIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation) services.

Around 10.42 am on May 29, a three-staged GSLV rocket carrying the 2,232 kg NVS-01 satellite, part of the Indian satellite navigation system NavIC, was launched from Sriharikota.

The powerful GSLV rocket, which had three stages, stood tall at a height of 51.7 meters and weighed a staggering 420 tons. At 10.42 a.m., it took off into the sky, successfully escaping the strong pull of Earth's gravity.

The countdown for the Monday morning flight of Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) rocket carrying Indias first second generation navigation satellite NVS-01 began at 7.12 a.m. on Sunday, said an official of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

The mission is designed to deploy the NVS-01 navigation satellite, weighing 2,232 kilograms, into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO).
