A shortage of second-hand houses amid an under supplied market is set to push house prices up further in Louth in 2024, according to a survey by Real Estate Alliance.

The price of a three-bedroom semi-detached home nationally has breached the €300,000 mark for the first time since 2007, as prices for homes outside the capital and major cities soar.

In Drogheda, average prices this quarter increased by 1.8% to €285,000

The mid-Louth village of Castlebellingham is noted for its romantic cottages known a as the Widows’ Houses, built in the 19th century for the widows of the workers in the nearby Bellingham Estate.

The price of a three-bedroom semi-detached home in Dublin city has hit €500,000 for the first time while the average price elsewhere has risen to just under €300,000.

Louth’s stunning coastline is home to some of Ireland’s most beautiful Blue Flag beaches, and who ever buys Strand House, on the Strand Road, Termonfeckin, will have a fine example right on their doorstep.
