Militarily and we also have a shorter Attention Span. These are very longterm problems and also americans dont like the word multilateralism. It has too many syllables in it ends and anism but basically its a matter of cooperating and if you look at these issues it will require American Leadership within a system that other countries play a part in. Otherwise i agree with everything both henry and george have said. But i do think short Attention Span and wont see lateral ways of dealing with it. Im sorry mr. Chairman. Not at all. Senator sessions. Thank you all. Its time for us to think about it our role in what our strategy will be and what we can realistically accomplish in the future and the longer ive been around these issues the more or less dreaming i have become. Dr. Kissinger i think im reading world order and i thank you for your contribution to the World Without book. I think you quote bismarck and maybe you can get it correctly. Unhappy as the statesman who is not as happy a
Conservative. And if you look at the size of our budget deficit go back about six years budget deficit peaked out at 1. 4 trillion. And its been coming down since then. Its down by about 2 3. But we still have a big deficit by historical standards. And we need to continue to work on that. Three things, i think, we need to do. We need tax reform that lowers the rates, broadens the base and helps raise money for deficit reduction. We need entitlement reform that serves old people, poor people, frankly saves these programs for our kids. Find way to save money in the entitlement programs so theyll be around for our children and grandchildren. The last thing we need to do is look at everything we need to do and get a better result for less money. Everything we do. Including how to secure our border in a costeffective way. This is going to be a good hearing. Thanks very much. Thank you, senator. Youll enjoy our hearing next week talking about the 30year deficit and those projections and cert

Joining us on the phone is sarah mimms, staff correspondent at national journal. Lets begin with what is happening on the floor in the house and senate. Guest sure. The senate particularly is really interesting. They are coming in in very much the same position they were last week. They still have a Human Trafficking bill holding them up. They still need to confirm Loretta Lynch. They are still looking at the iran nuclear deal. Mitch mcconnell indicated he thinks they are making progress on the Human Trafficking deal. Once that gets done, that is going to be the beginning of dominoes that will allow Loretta Lynch and iran to get done. All of that this week. Host serve the house is looking at Cyber Security legislation that they will vote on. Off the floor house and Senate Negotiators are meeting to try to iron out the differences on the 2016 budget. What are the
These are programs that serve people that are already walking on an economic tightrope. I consider that a mistake. I will close on upbeat note with a question about how tax reform should be built around the middle class. The amendment i offered got 73 votes. It makes things a little bit easier. If you are a parent with several children and you are struggling to get by, i am very hopeful that i am looking forward to working with you on a host of these issues. Lets build on bipartisanship and we are able to do that with an amendment that says the tax reform we know is going to be a challenging debate. It will be built around tax relief. Congressman moore. Congressman moore thank you so much for yielding. I do want to join my other colleagues in thanking the house and the senate for calling this conference together and acknowledging all of the distinguished members of the committee. I have been on the Budget Committee for over four years. And i am just not accustomed. I have not become ac
Himself a combat veteran, i recognize the gentleman from colorado, mr. Coffman. The speaker pro tempore the gentleman is recognized. Mr. Coffman as a gulf war and iraq war veteran, im grateful for your leadership on the House Committee on veterans affairs. H r. 4 61, the Gulf War Health Research Reform act of 2014, which i sponsored along with Ranking Member kirk patic right hand and full committee Ranking Member michaud restores the infence of the Research Advisory committee on gulf war illnesses to perform the role it has historically played. As intebbeded by congress. To improve the lives of gulf war veterans. This bill is necessary because some career v. A. Staff have been trying to revive the discredited 1990s fiction that nothing special happened to gulf war Veterans Health and that the problems experienced by gulf war veterans are, quote, what happens after every war, unquote. Due to psychological stress factor. Because there is no Scientific Evidence for this position, v. A. St
