SFPD chief, D.A. downplay differences, say theyâre united to make city safer
In a live Facebook conversation, SFPD Chief Bill Scott said he doesn t always agree with District Attorney Chesa Boudin s charging decisions, but respects the D.A. s role. Boudin said he ran on a platform where no one is above the law. The two are finding some common ground and are focusing on making San Francisco safer.
SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco s district attorney and police chief say they re on the same side when it comes to criminal justice, even if they don t always agree on charging decisions. In an event streamed live on Wednesday, the district attorney and police chief downplayed their differences, saying they re working toward the same goal: a safer city.

In addition, SFPD Chief Bill Scott released a statement supporting his department and the officers involved, including Officer Terrence Stangel, who is facing multiple felony assault charges from D.A Chesa Boudin s office. I have confidence in our judicial system, and the criminal charges filed on Officer Stangel are now a matter for our judicial system to decide, Scott s statement read in part.
