Oliver O Reilly appointed interim vice provost for undergraduate education

UC Berkeley professor in mechanical engineering Oliver O’Reilly will serve as campus’s interim vice provost for undergraduate education beginning July 1. O’Reilly, who is also currently the associate dean for graduate studies in the division of computing, data science and society, will take over the role from Catherine Koshland, who will serve as the interim executive vice chancellor and provost, according to a campuswide email sent Thursday. “Throughout his career, Oliver has demonstrated his deep commitment to the instructional and research mission of the campus as well as to furthering diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging,” the email reads.

Catherine Koshland to serve as interim executive vice chancellor, provost Catherine Koshland, a member of the UC Berkeley community since 1984, has agreed to serve as the interim executive vice chancellor and provost, or EVCP, while campus launches a nationwide search for a permanent replacement for Paul Alivisatos per campus policy. Koshland serves as the Wood-Calvert professor in the campus College of Engineering, a professor of environmental health sciences and a member of the Energy and Resources Group faculty, according to a campuswide email from Chancellor Carol Christ. She also served as vice provost for academic planning and facilities and serves as vice chancellor for undergraduate education.
