Miners have reportedly been held against their will at the bottom of the mine shaft for a third day. Reports also suggest that the hostage drama at the mine in Springs has turned violent as workers allegedly clashed underground.

Its understood a group of AMCU supporters blocked the shaft entrance, trapping close to 500 miners. This is over the mine’s decision to fire workers who took part in Octobers illegal strike that resulted in a hostage situation at the time.
