CLINTON TWP. – After the devastating February fire that destroyed its Old Highway 22 location, the Open Cupboard Food Pantry has opened its new temporary location at the Hunterdon Health

The roof of the 100-year-old building housing the Fish Organization pantry was ventilated and the building substantially compromised, according to Piscataway Mayor Brian Wahler.

Investigators are still working to determine how the fire started, though they dont believe it was foul play.

At the Open Cupboard Food Shelf in Oakdale, Colleen Moriarty isn't a name people recognize. However, for more than 20 years, she’s been the executive director of the non-profit Hunger Solutions, and through public policy at the capitol, has been working to improve access to food for countless people across the state.

In October, people in need walked into Winona Volunteer Services food shelf 944 times to get the food they need to survive.
