Second Michigan State Rep. Arrested for Drunk Driving in Last Month
3 May 2021
A Michigan state representative was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving Friday, the second in the last month.
State Rep. Bryan Posthumus, a Republican, is accused of hitting a mailbox and rolling over his vehicle, his office said in a statement.
WOOD TV reported Posthumus, the son of a former lieutenant governor, was transported to the hospital, where it was determined he had a blood alcohol level of 0.13, nearly twice the legal limit.
He issued an acknowledgement and apology:
I am deeply disappointed in myself for putting other people in jeopardy by driving while intoxicated. There is no excuse for what happened, and I take full and complete responsibility for my actions. I should never have tried to drive after drinking alcohol. To my family, friends, colleagues, and constituents who I serve, I sincerely apologize and ask forgiveness.

Iowa City Police responding to a fight call arrested a man for drunk driving without him even having to leave his driveway.
A large fight was reported at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Taylor Drive just before 10:30 Friday night. One person reported that 32-year-old Donald Joicius, who lives on Taylor Drive, had attempted to back his 1996 Toyota Camry out of his driveway when he hit another car on the property. Arriving officers found Joicius still sitting in the running car in his garage. Police say Joicius then put the car in reverse, backed out of the garage, put the car back in drive, then pulled back into the garage.
