RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - A third of the people killed by the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police during Operation Exceptis, last Thursday, May 6th, have no criminal proceedings on the Rio de Janeiro State Court website.
A survey, conducted by Estadão on the court s website on Saturday evening, May 8th, showed that no criminal proceedings are registered in the name of 9 of the 27 killed in the operation.

A shootout in Rio de Janeiro left at least 25 people dead on Thursday, in a police raid targeting drug traffickers.
It was the second highest-ever death toll from a police raid in the state, which has long been plagued by drug and gang-related violence. One police officer died in the violence. The rest of the deceased were suspected of being involved with gangs.
