Saturday fire destroys garage

Jul 17, 2021 | 5:47 PM SANDCUT, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) A fire near the Sandcut area results in the total loss of a garage. Earlier this afternoon, firefighters were dispatched to the East Rio Grande Avenue area. Upon arrivals, officials say two vehicles were inside of a fully engulfed garage. Both automobiles were severely damaged. “Our firefighters arrived on scene and made a pretty good stop on it to prevent it getting to this house. As you see the damage on the house is from heat, radiant heat Firefighters arrived on scene with enough time to stop that fire from spreading.” Otter Creek Fire Department P.I.O., Taylor Hardy, said.

Six Vigo County firefighters promoted at monthly department meeting

By Syndicated Content Jun 2, 2021 | 9:45 PM VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Otter Creek Fire Department promoted six firefighters at their monthly department meeting. The newly-promoted officer have undergone various leadership and training classes since the beginning of the year. Some of the classes are Instructor 1, Fire Officer Strategy and Tactics (FOST), Fire Officer 1 and other leadership courses. Chief Stott presents Lt. Darrion Froschauer with the 2020 “Firefighter of the Year” award. The officers were chosen and promoted at the recommendation of the command staff and appointed by the Fire Chief. Chief Brad Stott said “we appreciate the effort and dedication that each of the new officers has put in the past few years. They have all come a long way and much to offer the department,” said Stott.
