The Indian Navys P-8I aircraft has established communication with the distressed merchant vessel MV Chem Pluto, which caught fire in the Arabian Sea following a suspected drone attack. The vessel, carrying crude oil from Saudi Arabia to Mangalore, was located 217 nautical miles off the Porbandar coast.

Boeing said it envisions that increasing the P-8I fleet to 18 aircraft will increase investments.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during his visit to Mumbai undertook a sortie on the Indian Navy P8I Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance Anti-Submarine Warfare aircraft over the Arabian sea on Tuesday.

A P8I plane of the Indian Navy has reached Darwin city in Australia to participate in coordinated maritime operations such as anti-submarine warfare and surface surveillance, an official statement on Tuesday.

India wants to brings its fleet of P-8Is up to 18 aircraft.
