Huawei’s new flagship smartphone comes with incredible cameras and a stunning design, but of lack of Google apps like Maps and no 5G mean it won’t be enough for most users.

Huawei has revealed the P50 Pocket and P50 Pocket Premium Edition in Europe. The foldable flip phone starts at €1,299, €250 more than the entry-level Galaxy Z Flip3. Both P50 Pocket models have Snapdragon 888 4G SoCs, 120 Hz main displays and run EMUI 12 out of the box.

Huaweis top-end phone of the moment is the P50 Pro. It has only been available in China to date; however, the OEM has announced that it will introduce the device to new markets in a few days. It will be joined by its foldable clamshell counterpart the P50 Pocket in this launch.

In recent days, Huawei, Honor and Motorola showed off flip-screen phones that could make foldable designs more common in 2022.

Chinese smartphone vendors are currently focusing their foldable devices on the domestic market because of rival Samsung’s relative lack of success there.

Huawei launched many products during the launch event; however, the P50 Pocket smartphone was undoubtedly the star of the show. This new smartphone from Huawei is the company’s fourth foldable phone after Mate X2, Mate XS and Mate X. The all new P50 Pocket has a multi-dimensional hinge design that allows it to open and close without any crease marks.

When unfolded, the Pockets OLED screen is 6.9-inches in size, with a 21:9 ratio and 120Hz refresh rate. The device weighs 190 grams and is just 7.2mm thick. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G SoC, a 4,000mAh battery, and runs Huaweis Harmony OS 2. 📲 Huawei Unveils Foldable ‘P50 Pocket’ Smartphone in China.

Huawei has unveiled the P50 Pocket globally, a clamshell smartphone with a 6.9-inch display when unfolded. The P50 Pocket also has a 4,000 mAh battery, four cameras and a Snapdragon 888 4G SoC. The P50 Pocket does not come cheap though, with the device starting at CNY 8,998 (~US$1,410) in China.
