An Indigenous mans pursuit of private prosecution of an Edmonton police officer who caused him long-term injury has been stopped by Albertas top prosecutor.

The lawyer for Pacey Dumas is trying to circumvent Alberta's Crown prosecution service and get the Edmonton Police Service officer charged with aggravated assault.

A young man and his family are having a hard time and hurting after prosecutors decided the police officer who kicked him in the head will not be charged.
