The Packard Proving Ground D-Day event begins at 9 a.m. June 6 with a flag ceremony followed by lectures, activities and more.

The Shelby Farmers Market opening May 18 features a diverse array of locally-sourced delights.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Santa Claus is coming to town at the Packard Proving Grounds this month, and everyone is invited to celebrate.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — International Archaeology Day falls annually on the third Saturday in October, and the Packard Proving Grounds will be hosting archaeology related events in honor of this day, though not on the day itself.

Gently worn, used and new shoes can be dropped off through Sept. 16 at the Proving Grounds, located at 49965 Van Dyke Avenue, Shelby Township, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday or 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays at the Shelby Farmers Market located on the front lawn of the grounds. 

Markets at both Detroit's Cadillac Square and Beacon Park will offer plenty of chances to shop local this weekend. Other events include Motor City Pride, beer fests, and more.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — The Shelby Farmers Market has returned for its 15th year.

Cars R Stars returns to the Packard Proving Grounds in Shelby Township on June 12. The featured car this year is the Chevelle.
