India-based Dixon Technologies reportedly will make Googles Pixel 8 smartphones starting in September following a deal signed between Taiwan-based Compal and Padget, Dixon Technologies subsidiary.

Local contract manufacturer Dixon Technologies will make Alphabet Incs super-premium Google Pixel 8 smartphones in the country, said two industry executives aware of the plan.

In the Pixels Rs 50,000-plus price bracket, consumers prefer Apples iPhones or Samsungs Galaxy devices, they said. Imported smartphones attract import duty of 22%, which raises the price tag, they said.
