Analysts say the deal will help Xiaomi India leverage Dixons status of being cleared to receive sops under the governments production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for mobile manufacturing.

Dixon subsidiary Padget Electronics has signed an agreement with Xiaomi to manufacture smartphones and other products at its facility in Noida. The deal will allow Xiaomi India to benefit from Dixons eligibility for government incentives under the production-linked incentive scheme, while Dixon will secure another major contract for its mobile manufacturing business.

The production will take place at Padget’s manufacturing facility situated in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

The manufacturing will take place at Dixons facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. This partnership is seen as a major milestone in the Indian governments "Make in India" initiative. Dixon has previously partnered with Xiaomi to manufacture TVs since 2018, as well as manufacturing smartphones for Motorola and Samsung.

Dixon Technologies: “Dixon is talking to two major global brands, with a new production facility under works and expected to be operational in the next three-four months,” said one of the executives, who did not wish to be identified.
