Govt speeds up implementation of fast-track projects

DHAKA, June 1, 2021 (BSS)–Construction work of the fast-track projects is progressing fast as experts and employees are working in three shifts to complete these projects without any further delay.
According to an official concerned, foreign experts and workers of the fast-track projects are working hard to complete the projects as per the government’s desire.
The official said the COVID-19 pandemic hindered pace of work of the fast-track projects, including most important Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project, Rapid Mass Transit (MRT) Line-6 and also Payra port development work.
“Once these projects are completed, the country’s economy will see a big change,” said the official.

The Padma Bridge Rail Link Project, the biggest project of Bangladesh Railway, is facing several challenges that may have an adverse impact on its cost and duration, officials said.
Changes in the design of viaducts on both sides of the bridge, the Covid-19 pandemic, changes in work scopes following the demands of local representatives and government decisions are major the challenges, they said.
These issues of theTk 39,246 crore project came to light at a meeting yesterday at Rail Bhaban. The meeting was call for a review of the progress of the four biggest projects the state-run transport agency is implementing.

The last span of the Padma Bridge is being installed on pillars 12 and 13 at Mawa point on Thursday morning linking both sides of the mighty Padma river as the country s people get closer to having their long-cherished dream come true.
With the installation of the span, a total of 6.15 km [6,150 meters] of the dream double-layer Padma Bridge will become visible.
The installation of the span marked as 2-F has been completed six days after the last one was installed.
