A few alerts in including in oakland where a trash blocked highway 24. Trees came down, power went out, and for commuters it was a white knuckled drive to work. Lets get to lawrence kamow. We were looking at some flooding in san mateo and santa cruz. Looks like the main band has pushed through but some of the heavy downpours remain. We have some pretty good rainfall outside right now. This is where we get into the unstable air. So yeah, we could see some thunderstorms in the afternoon. You see one train of moisture making it into parts of the marin head lands. That will continue to bring you heavy downpours i have rainfall. But look is what is going on in the east bay. We are seeing strong storms in fremont, livermore. These will continue to roll through. With that in mind, we not done just yet and there is more sitting off the coastline.
You look at interstate 880 the traffic does look good. The drive time between downtown oakland and the hazenburger exit is not that much. Also looking at the commute at the toll plaza to less than ten minutes your drive into San Francisco from the toll plaza. Interstate 580 coming into the Altamont Pass the traffic looks good. I want to show you something, 580 the drive time between grant line road and 680 is about 20 minutes. Its never this light. Well i guess it is over night. Roads venture out on the wet. The first of the rain begins to arrive. People have begun to pick up sandbags, clear out gutters and trim trees ahead of the rain expected over the next few days. We have ktvu Team Coverage with reporters covering all over the bay area, from the south bay to the east bay and the slick Road Conditions in between. We start with mark tamayo tracking the rain. Right now the steadiest activity is up in the north bay. You can see the greens and the yellows showing up there. Theres the live doppler sweeps detectth the rainfall patterns.
