Up. They are ready and going hard. This is the surf report and the swells. Coming in through the weekend. The swells werent that big this afternoon. In fact a perfect day to bring the family to enjoy the weather and the companies in the forecast later this week. Hike, hike, hike. That had people in Half Moon Bay pumped about the event. The one day invitation competition will take place on friday with 24 of the worlds best surfers expected to be on hand. Of course since 2010 spectators cant wash from the beach but can watch it online. This years competition will have more cameras than they have had in years past and the waves were from last week when the competition would have taken place. Overshadowed by that event known as the super bowl. Still organizers are confident that waves expected on friday will not disappoint. The fans or the competitors. It will be good. It will be as good as last week. Maybe not quite as big. But how big is big when you are talking 30 or 40 feet of water .
Because of that swell it was jamming up the waves. Sneaker waves are a concern and powerful thick ground swells not the surface waves you see. The ground swells can catch you by surprise. No High Surf Advisory but the ocean is dangerously calm because of that underlying ground swell. We will talk about the mavericks contest.
