After eight long weeks, workers have voted to approve a union contract, ending their strike at the Hispanic Society Museum and Library.

Unionized workers at Manhattan’s Hispanic Society Museum will end their strike after reaching a contract agreement on Friday with museum management.

The labor crisis faced by the organization – which houses the largest collection by Joaquín Sorolla outside of Spain – is postponing the reopening of the museum. Employees are demanding better working conditions and denouncing negligence by the management

The reopening of the Hispanic Society Museum was delayed due to union disputes. Yesterday, staff protested outside the chairman's home.

The small group of around 20 employees went on strike on March 27 and has not been paid since.

Health care and pension funds were just to of many complaints Hispanic Society workers had against the institution's leadership.
