Live from the cbs bay area studios this is kpix5 news. A woman goes out for a walk, then this happens. Tonight the search for her attacker. That brutal beating happened near a park in San Francisco. Police told kpix5s andria borba the attack appears to be completely random. Reporter the attack and beating near the corner of goth and washington takes less than a minute but is difficult to watch. It happened around 7 45 saturday night across the street from Lafayette Park and was captured on the surveillance cameras of 2006 washington, a posh condo building. The victim did not know the suspect and the attacker did not robber, just beat her. The suspect ran up to her, confronted her and attacked her and fled the area. Reporter the attack goes on seemingly forever with the suspect repeatedly punching the victim and at one point pinning her to the sidewalk with a knee to the back. As a precaution, police were at the school, and students were not allowed in hallways during classes. Parents, if they wanted to, could take their kids out of school for the day. Early yesterday morning, Monticello Police chief britt smith got a message on his phone. It was a notification that someone had sent an anonymous tip about the gun threat to the jones county text to tell system. Once the tipster sends the text, officers can respond asking for more information. But the tipster can end all communication at any time, by simply typing stop.
