The technical committee constituted by Supreme Court to probe Pegasus scandal has issued a public notice seeking details from citizens who have a reasonable cause to suspect that their devices were compromised

The Supreme Court passed a direction to have a three-member committee to continue the probe into the case. It is important to understand the ramifications of this direction and the larger impact of the Pegasus snooping issue. 

The Supreme Court berated the Central government for raising the argument of national security, stating that it cannot be an omnibus argument to gain a free pass every time the Court exercises judicial review.

The Centre had already proposed to constitute an expert panel, composed of independent members, to examine the snooping allegations.
