From the newsroom. Birmingham city council has effectively declared bankruptcy in a statement, the council said its issued a section 114 notice which prevents all but essential spending. It says its part of spending. It says its part of plans to meet its financial liabilities relating to equal pay liabilities relating to equal pay claims. The council also says its facing a financial gap within its budget currently standing in the region of £87 million.
