The Pershing Mural restoration project is estimated to cost around 3.1 million dollars and should be finished spring of next year.

A $1.5 million boost from Nebraska lawmakers would help give a new home to the iconic Pershing Center mural.

Now that the mural has found a new home, phase two begins: raising $2 million for the restoration and reinstallation of the mural.

After 65 years, the giant, 763,000-tile mural is gone from the facade of the Pershing Center.

Crews will extract about 250 4-by-8-foot sections of the mural by attaching a specialized material that is similar to contact paper.

The group is aiming to raise $1 million by Wednesday.
