Over €8 million in funding has been allocated to 28 Wicklow Active Travel schemes that make walking, cycling and wheeling safer and more accessible in the Garden County.

Significant progress has been made on Active Travel projects across Wicklow, where six expansive projects aimed at improving public safety and accessibility have been completed, with a further six already underway.

Renewable energy provider SSE Renewables has announced the winning Arklow entries in its ‘Design a Christmas Decoration from Recycled Materials’ competition.

The Arklow Christian Community Church supported Arklow’s primary schools at their monthly Super Sunday event for September.

The students, who scored aggregate 6, hailed from various Junior Secondary Schools across the country. The schools included Gambia Methodist Academy, SOS Herman Gmeiner Junior School, Ann Marie Rivier, Mansa Colley Bojang Junior School, St. Therese’s Junior School, Charles Jow Memorial Academy, and St. Peter’s Junior School.

The event is open to children and young people up to 18 years of age. Last year, four students from the Garden County won prizes in the event, which is now in its 67th year. They were Emily Roe, a pupil at Temple Carrig School, Greystones; Brooke Mullen from Loreto Bray Secondary School; Chloe Hughes from Coláiste Chraobh Abhann, Kilcoole; and Ella Kelly from Ss Michael and Peter Junior School, Arklow.
