Orion and the Darks Jacob Tremblay and Paul Walter Hauser just happen to share the same two kids movies that made them see the world a bit clearer.

The new Charlie Kaufman movie on Netflix, Orion and the Dark, comes with a Werner Herzog cameo and a Saul Bass shout-out.

Kaufman's offbeat sensibility was the perfect fit for mixing alternate realities with CG and 2D.

The production designer and art director approached the challenging, ‘scrappy indie project’ by honoring the hand-painted, watercolor feel of Emma Yarlett’s original book; written by Oscar-winner Charlie Kaufman, the DreamWorks’ and Mikros Animation film debuts on Netflix February 2, 2024.
