The P.E.I. government has processed fewer than half of the financial relief claims submitted by Island aquaculture harvesters related to damages from post-tropical storm Fiona.

The majority of compensation claims from P.E.I. oyster growers related to damage from post-tropical storm Fiona have not yet been processed,1.5 years after the massive storm struck the Island.

Some of P.E.I.'s biggest industries took their concerns to the provincial government Thursday about the devastating impacts of Fiona — and the most urgent needs arising after the post-tropical storm ripped through the Island in late September.

Some Panmure Island residents are hoping their concerns about the growing amount of waste left along their shoreline will be dealt with soon before P.E.I.'s tourism season takes off.
