Diesel consumption fell by 5.8% to 2.72 million tonnes in the first half of September compared to the same period last year. However, petrol sales saw a marginal increase during the same period.

Extensive destruction of roads due to landslides and flooding in Himachal added to the fall in tourism-related demand,” one executive with a fuel retailing company said.
