Severe storms including damaging winds with the possibility of tornadoes moved through Omaha and eastern Nebraska on Tuesday.

Tuesday is a 6 First Alert Weather Day as we track two rounds of severe weather. One overnight into this morning left behind flash flooding and some damage in several areas. Round two is expected between about 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the immediate Omaha metro area, with all modes of severe weather, including tornadoes, on the table.

By Tuesday afternoon, Douglas County had received reports of tornado or storm damage to 834 properties, most of them residential structures.

“You just come together as a community,” said one volunteer helping with the cleanup effort. “That’s what we do in the Midwest. That’s what we’re known for.”

More than 1,900 properties have been inspected following last week’s storms, including 689 in the Omaha city limits.

Waste Management has extended hours at a Douglas County landfill to help handle storm debris.

In Nebraskas largest county, current data lists 117 homes destroyed by Fridays tornado, 119 homes suffering major damage and 108 homes suffering minor damage, while more were listed as "affected."
