Light rain and mild temperatures. All signs that spring is slowly starting to work its way back into the Pacific Northwest.

The leaf-out process has started in parts of Florida, Texas, California, and North Carolina. The USA National Phenology Network reports cities such as Miami and Houston are running about five days behind schedule, but some locations in the Carolinas, Southwest and Golden State are more than a week ahead of schedule.

In addition to changing leaves and crisp, cool air, autumn brings with it a signature smell.
