Young Bay Area filmmakers among winners of the prestigious documentary competition East Bay teens win big in C-SPAN documentary competition Two high school students from the Bay Area were surprised to learn their documentaries were among the winners in C-SPAN s documentary competition. OAKLAND, Calif. - Two East Bay high school students are among the winners of C-SPAN s national documentary competition called StudentCam. Agamroop Kaur, a junior at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, recently found out her documentary Big Tobacco Bigger Epidemic placed second place in the west. She won $1,500. I was actually in tears, she said. C-SPAN said they received about 1,200 entries for students in grades 6-12.

East Bay student filmmakers bring home C-SPAN documentary awards By Tony Hicks article A portion if the poster for StudentCam, C-SPAN’s annual, national video documentary competition for middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12) students. The competition encourages students to critically analyze an issue of interest and Expand East Bay students filmmakers won big this week at C-SPAN s national 2021 StudentCam competition.  Now in its 17th year, the nationwide cable network s contest invites middle and high school students to make a short documentary. This year s theme was Explore the issue you most want the president and new Congress to address in 2021.
