Phoenix Based Freeport News Today

Heavy-equipment giant Caterpillar Inc. trains its dealers and customers on remote-control systems and other tech at a sprawling facility near Tucson.

Freeport now expects its Q1 sales to be lower than the previous outlook of 900 million pounds of copper and 300,000 ounces of gold.

Executives from Phoenix-based Freeport recently toured the Hayden smelter -- owned by Grupo Mexico unit Asarco -- to appraise the operation.

Company also reiterated long-standing comments that does not need to buy a rival to grow, pointing to expansion plans in the United States and Asia.
