University of California, Santa Barbara, alumnus Jake Parker's parents said they are pursuing criminal and civil actions after their son tripped over a balcony fence and fell off a 50-foot cliff.

University of California Santa Barbara graduate Jacob Parker became the 14th person to fall to his death from cliffs along Del Playa Drive in Isla Vista while he was at a party April 20.

He was the 14th person to die in a cliff fatality in the past 20 years and the second to die in the past year following another cliff fatality in the summer.

Santa Barbara County Fire personnel transported a man in critical condition to Cottage Hospital after he fell about 50 feet from a cliff behind 6625 Del Playa Drive in Isla Vista Saturday.

The property owner, St. George & Associates, replaced the fence and inspected the cliff later that same day, determining that the dwelling “is not in any danger.”
