The department of public instruction in Dakshina Kannada has sent a proposal to the ministry of education to bring 18 schools under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM-SHRI) scheme for the next academic year.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee discovered that there are over 7.4 lakh teacher openings at the elementary level (Classes 1 through 8), 1.6 lakh openings at the secondary level (Classes 9 and 10), and over 92,000 at the upper secondary level.

In the budget, the government has provided an outlay of Rs. 1.13 lakh crore for education, up from Rs 1 lakh crore in the revised estimates for 2022-23.
