Poland Strike News Today

Germany has offered Warsaw the Patriot missile defence system to help it to secure its airspace after a stray missile crashed in Poland last week, Defence Minister Christine Lambrecht told a newspaper on Sunday.

After Poland said that a Russian-made rocket killed two people in eastern Poland near Ukraine, US President Joe Biden called an emergency meeting with global leaders who were present for the G20 summit. Poland summoned Russia's ambassador to Warsaw for an explanation.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Wednesday said a deadly missile strike in Poland underscored the inherent threat posed by Russia's war, but did not say who fired the projectile.

The Kremlin on Wednesday praised Washington's "measured" response after a missile landed in Poland and US President Joe Biden said it was "unlikely" that it had come from Russia.

Russia said Wednesday that images published from the site of a blast in Poland showed fragments of a Ukrainian missile, and that Moscow's nearest strike on Ukraine was 35 kilometres (20 miles) from the Polish border.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Wednesday a deadly explosion in Poland was probably the result of Ukrainian anti-aircraft fire but that Russia bears "ultimate responsibility" for the war.
