Apple has removed an app named Kimi from its App Store. This app which posed as a vision testing app was reportedly a platform which allowed users to watch pirated movies on their smartphones.

Shortly before Apple removed it, the movie and TV show piracy app Kimi was being downloaded more than Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+.

Kimi was disguised as an app that tests your eyesight by making you play spot the difference in similar photos, but it actually contained bootlegged movies and shows.

An app called Kimi is trending at number eight on the App Store’s top free entertainment apps and number 46 overall.

Before it disappeared on Tuesday, Kimi enabled iPhone owners to stream illegal bootlegs of popular movies like "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer."

This morning, Apple tossed an app out of the App Store after it was discovered giving users illegal access to movies and television shows.
