Community theaters are getting ready to return with smaller casts and audiences
They re returning to in-person shows this summer and fall, but not the typical big musicals. The changes made out of necessity are giving theaters a chance to tackle different types of material.

PORTLAND – Bruce F. Calderwood, 62, succumbed to his chronic lung condition on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021 at Maine Medical Center.
Bruce is survived by his only child, Heather Whitaker, her husband Johnny Whitaker, and his four grandchildren, Aaryhanna Pettis, Andre Hicks III, Avante Hicks, and Amiyah Whitaker.
He was the only son born to Alice and R.F. Calderwood, born on Nov. 15, 1958 in Portland. He was the youngest of five, leaving behind his four older sisters, Jean Meyer, Betty Martin (Ralph), Judy Gayton, and Carol Hodgkins (Bill). He is also survived by many foster siblings; nephews, nieces; and cousins that loved him dearly.
